Swap the paper feed stations between tray 2 and tray 3. If it's the lift sensing mechanism the fault will move to tray 3. Look at the position of the pickup roller arm on the two units, are they the same?

Which board did you fit? the motors are controlled by the paper feed control board, have you changed this? (B140 5132?) or the main board?

Try swapping the Tray 2 and tray 3 paper lift motors, this will tell you if it's a problem with the motor.

Meaning upon checking the machine 2nd tray goes reverse feed and issue sc 502?

usually this code was from paper obstacle along paper tray or path well as you said you already swap 2nd to 3rd tray and still same problem...

AX04 0135 Paper Tray Motor try to replace this one.
