you mean the black drum unit for the copier or the complete spc811 black pcu?
You can swap the drum units from bk to col easily - just take care to modify the connector at the back of the unit (just compare them) and keep the original front cap in use.
Thanks for that information. I was just looking at using the black drums for colour, not the complete pcu. From what I can read, they may be the same as the mpc 4500. Do you know if that is correct?
We believe Ricoh (Europe?) are now applying superglue to the connectors on the black units to prevent them being used for the colour stations! (The locating pin breaks off when removing the connector!). This applies for the MPC4500, not sure about the printers. I've seen a post suggesting the printer units may be MUCH cheaper.
You can extualy use SPC811DN PCU put into MPC3500/4500 by cutting the connector shap to the same as MPC PCU, swop the TD sensor use two small flat screw driver flip the TD sensor out and be careful then use double sided tape, swop cover or cut out the difference, less cost and times.

I never swapped the whole connector With a little practise it's way more faster to handle if cut away the edge of the existing connector and peel of the little metal stick what is suppose to avoid this action

You can also flip the td sensor pcbc out of it's housing - it will click into another housing so no need to use tape. This is easy but I'd recommend to practise this on the printer PCU TD sensor first because that's for the garbage anyway.
