    Nashuatec DSm645 Firmware

Does this machine shares the same firmware as the Ricoh 2045e, or should I look for a Nashuatec firmware?

I have the 2045e firmware, and was thinking of flashing it, but I don't know whether it is safe to do so.

If not, can someone please tell me what are the lastest versions for this machine so I can check if it is up-to-date?

Additionally, where the heck to I put the SD card? I can't find the service slot anywhere...

    Thanks!

I don't know about the 2045e, but the 2045 (B079/B082) firmware update is done using an IC (flash) card. If you have a PC with a flash card slot, you may stiil be able to download the Memory Card Explorer utility from TSC. The file type is a 'bin' file vs. the FWU file that the SD cards use.

The 645 is the same as the 2045e and uses .bin files as mikadonavan suggests.
The 645e is the same as the MP4500 and uses .fwu files on an SD card.

It's the equivalent to the AF2045e - I already have the Ricoh firmware with me (I have no access to Nashua firmwares).

Anyway, I have no experience with these older machines - how do I update the firmware? I only know how to update with SD cards - and this machine seems to predate that. I've looked through the service manual and see no reference to firmware updates. Am I missing something?

Furthermore, are the consumables (toner, developer, etc) interchangeable between these machines? Can I order Ricoh 2045e toners for the Nashua DSm645?

Ahn, sorry, I missed that one. So, what exactly is an "IC card"? Is it one of those PCMCIA memory cards? And how big does it need to be? I think I might have a 8Mb one around... Any insight on this would be very much appreciated.

Exactly, I think it has to be 4MB.

Any chance of any of you providing me with a part number for that IC? I don't have one and need to buy it...
