I am a Toshiba tech but came across a couple of these scanners.They leave streaks.I cleaned the slit grass and reflector and the scans are much better but there is dust on the 1st mirror under the slit glass,can this be cleaned?Scanner unit looks sealed but dust got in it some how.strange.

You can remove the covers easily. You can remove all covers with 6-8 screws, I think. You can then remove the ADF, and then remove the exposure glass. -
Mirror ccd assembly
I got the exposure glass off but I need to clean the mirrors and ccd.The cover has 2 screws with white paint on them which is usually a warning not to touch them.Does this assembly have service access?Thanks for the help.Comment

Just one pointer, don't go anywhere near the CCD. Blow it off with some compressed air. If that lens gets dirty they're a bitch to clean.It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
