    Savin C4535 Frustrations

    Hi...

I hope someone can help us with our Savin C4535 issues. As a copier, scanner the device works great. However, as a network printer the machine is terrible. The main problem is that it is incredibly slow. When printing a simple one page excel spreadsheet (50k) takes one minute to spool up (to 1 MB) and print. Printing .pdf files is almost impossible as it takes 15-30 minutes for a 10 page file. We are currently using PCL5 print driver. Available memory is not an issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Our service techs have no clue how to solve this issue and the vendor's only suggestion is for us to buy a new machine.

    Thanks.

It could be a million things but a few simple things are as follows
Is the post script option installed on the machine.
Is the machine DHCP or Static.
What does a ping command to the device come back with
Is the driver set up on a server or on each client station.
In the machine setup do you have the box checked that says spool prints before printing if so unmark that box and mark the box that says start printing imediately.
Or the network is just crap with too much intinuation on the network.

Check the Savin website and also make sure you have the most recent version of the PCL 5 driver. Sometimes there are issues with software updates or newer versions of applications like Adobe Reader.
For PDF's, if the files are black and white, try changing the driver settings from colour printing to black and white and change the resolution from 600 dpi to 300. This will generally speed up processing, especially if the PDF's were created from a scanner.
You may also want to investigate vendors that deal with the related family brands of Ricoh and Lanier. The only difference between the brands are a different label on the front of the machine.
Good luck and let us know what they find as an issue...
