    SP C222sf Scan to SMB

Hi All. I have an annoying problem that ive spent about 8 hours on so far, that i hope someone can help me with or at least put me out of my misery

It is kind of a complicated setup, but ill explain best as i can.

The machine and the setup was done months ago, and was working.

The Customer works from home, on a laptop running XP Professional. The Laptop is part of the company domain. She connects to the internet via Telstra 3g wireless.

She has a SP C222sf that is setup for printing and scan to folder. Ive connected the machine and the laptop using a crossover cable. Because the laptop was part of a domain, it was setup with stupid domain enforced firewall settings. Basically, the only thing opened for any file sharing was anything on the 192.168.250.0 subnet. So, i set up static IP's for both, and created a local user on the laptop for scanning.

    Everything was fine and dandy.

Anyhoo, apparantly that laptop died, and she sent it off to the company to be repaired. They sent another one, which i set up exactly the same, and that worked.

Now she has her original laptop back. Printing works, scanning doesn't. I cannot for the life of me figure out why. Ive compared the 2 laptops, and every single setting ive checked is exactly the same. Users, shared names, local security policies, firewall settings. You name it, ive checked it, yet the SP C222sf simply refuses to scan to the old laptop.

The only difference i have seen, is that the laptop im trying to set up, has service pack 3 on it.

And thats where im at. Any clues?

    Cheers,
    Neil

    smb scanning

i would boot to local computer and verify setup to ensure that the problem was not with the domain. turn on the firewall log to track and drop packets. check pc logs for com security errors. last but not least sell them a different system

i checked the firewall logs, nothing seems to even connect. If i use my own laptop in place of the copier (ie same IP address and log in with that password) i can get to the shared folder fine and write to it.

I also logged on to the computer with the local administrator to see if that would make a difference, but no :/

And yes, i have definately considered selling them a new machine, i hate these bloody 222's. haha

I think one of the only machines ive come across that the error log just says 'error'. i figured that, now tell me why!
