The exposure lamp circuit is open. (if I remember correctly)
Check the optics lamp and thermalfuse. Normally its the fuse. I usually bypass the fuse with a paperclip, but don't let the paperclip touch the 1st scanner frame, else you will be shocked next time you try to clean the optics.

        Health and safety!!!!

If the building burns down the ENGINEER goes to jail!!!

NEVER use a paperclip!! And shame on you for suggesting it!! (Koosie)

If the fuse has blown it can be something as simple as a dirty exposure lamp! Make sure the lamp and the reflector are always kept VERY clean.
Also, when working on the scanner lamps of older Ricoh machines ALWAYS remove the mains plug. on some machines a residual charge could trip the RCD on the customer fusebox if shorted to frame.

Imagine the beating you will get from the tech that follows you up on the next call and returns with hair that looks like Albert Einstein.

I know a few techs that will leave a "MacGyver" fix in a machine forever. When I find them I read them the riot act!! Me...I may "MacGyver" to get the customer running, but will always return to fix it the RIGHT way.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

I don't see a request for a manual for this machine. There is a section to post for manual requests here:

We call it a rig job over here and it's not a great idea if you can avoid it.
