It's on the left side of the first cassette. There is a small cover with one screw. When you want to remove the screw, open the front door, and you will see it at the left hinge. Remove the screw and open the cover. Then you will see the waste toner bottle. I don't know if you're an end user or a tech, but the waste toner bottle is not a part that the end user will replace, allthough it is quite easy to replace.

Hey thanks so much. I'm not a tech trained on this machine. but apparently I need to learn to service it.

Replacing a waste toner bottle isn't a big deal. Everyone who can use a screwdriver can replace it.

I would leave the rest of the maintenance to a trained (Ricoh) technician. Replacing drum/development units etc. should be done by someone who is trained.

Forgive my ignorance but I just can't seem to locate the waste toner bottle; below are screen shots of the steps I take

          1. Open the front cover

2: Remove the Single Screw and turn the "locking" levers

3:I see what I think is the drum on the bottom right conner

4:after cleaning the toner waste is there a code I may need to enter to remove the error prompt?

          any help is greatly appreciated.

You are looking at the drum/developments units on your photo's. As I mentioned, the waste toner is located at the left side of the first paper cassette. The screw you have to remove is located between the yellow and cyan drum/dv-unit. You have to replace these waste toner bottles with a new one instead of cleaning them, if you want to keep your clothes clean.

The machine will recover from the waste toner full state automatically. BTW, the waste toner bottle is not replaced by the customer/end user.

It's perfectly manageable to empty these cartridges, I empty five-ten of them every week, just be sure you have a big enough bag.
Every time i look into my car I wish I'd double-bagged a few more than I have, but thats another issue...

The MPC6000-7500 waste-cartridge on the other hand requires some skill.

I only emptyed ONE on a C4500 and Toner spilled all over the place. They are not made to be emptied.
Marty- look at the 1st cassette, see the panel to the left of it. Thats the door to the bottle you're looking for. Its held in place by a screw going thru the top of the panel and is accessible by opening the front cover and finding the screw over the panel. There are no instructions in the operator manual because its better for a tech to do it. You're gonna get shit all over the place.

I actually find the MPC6000 type to be a lot easier than these

I had a customer recently who just couldn't wait for me to empty their MPC4000 waste toner, so he did it himself... all 4 of them.

You guessed it - 4 new developers and a big bill.

Thank you so much; I found the screw and was able to empty out the "used toner bottle". Prior to asking for help on the forum I emptied out the black drum unit thinking it was the "used toner bottle". Now I am getting an error SC364 and the pages being printed are printing out too light even when I set the "auto density" to be the darkest. Any solution to this? any one know where I can download/purchase maintenance intructions for this unit? our nearest service company is 500 miles away (we near the border of mexico and USA). Once again any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you emptied the developer and need to refill it.
Black developer part number is b2309640.

Reset black developer in SC 3902xx
You'll have to split the PCU into dev.-unit and drum unit.
Two screws to remove the front cover.
                          Disconnect the eight-pin connector.
One screw to remove a black plastic cover/bushing-combination.
                          Turn the PCU around.
Remove the upper metal clip and brass bushing.
                          Pull the units apart.
On the dev.-unit there are three plastic "hooks", use a small screwdriver to open them and remove the dev.-unit top cover.
                          Empty the unit.
                          Refill with new developer.

Ok. I followed the instructions but one last thing. how do i "refill with new developer"? assuming developer is the "black dust" do i pour a specified amount to the area that I emptied? or just put the unit back together and put it back in the printer and let the printer refill it (through its own internal process)?

You need to order a bag of developer - These machines do not use monocomponent toner. The developer a magnetic power the toner mixes with so the machine can pick it up and brush it on the drum.

Clean out the old developer and dump in the entire new bag.
