    2045 DF 82 jams

constant jams in the document feeder. paper stops just before the scanner glass. papers is nnot creased or anything. cleaned all the sensors. anyone else had this problem before?

    jam code is 006-

The exit sensor does not turn on after the transport motor has fed
    the original 124 mm.

If you have cleaned ALL of the sensors already, then the roller shaft with the large rollers on it may be stripped and not turning, or barely turning. I have seen this a few times. The drive wheel at the rear of the shaft has splines that wear out. If you hold onto that and try to turn the large rubber wheels and they still turn, that's your problem.

I agree with Fearless. I just had an LD345c with the same issue. Also check to make sure that the white wheel that the feedbelt for the transport wheels rests on hasn't cracked, which would make the belt slip while driving the paper over the scanner.

        the white wheel is fine.

is this most likely to be a sensor problem?

I usually clean all sensors first.

If you think one is bad, you can check them in the peripheral input mode in SP modes. I don't see them go bad often, although it does happen.

Did you check the drive wheel for the large rollers? You have to take the back off the DF to do it.

The rear frame that supports the DF is very thin.
A customer pushing back the DF to copy something where they need it higher will bend the frame.
I remove the limiters on the hinges.
Just for the one individual who wants to scan or fax an image of their butt.

You should be able to tap the front of the DF and feel a solid hit.
If the DF bounces the frame is bent.
            2 second test.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?
