    ricoh 1515 constant clicking noise

this is more of a knocking noise. could it be one of the clutches?
its defo not the fuser unit or the pcu.
ive come across this a few times before. its hard to tell where the noise is coming from.

constant while no copies are being made?

polgygon mirror motor makes constant noise before it dies, but usually not clicking. You can hear lamps turning off and on warming up to keep the fuser ready.

Check the bushings of the transfer roller. Almost 100% sure.

I agree with Eric. I've had the transfer roller bushings make a loud clicking /knocking noise also.

Yup, the bushing gets a hairline crack. Enough to let the drive gear skip.
Don't take that toner with me!

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

Amazed cause of the few hundred 3515mf we have in the field NONE have had this problem. Common problem is warped fuser gates due to heat or people pulling too hard when removing jams.

When are making copies you can try to push the right door and if the noise changes or disappears it's the transfer roller bushing next to the gear.
