    DigiDocFlow and LPR Printing

    Hello there, guys and gals!

We're having problems using the LPR Printing function of DigiDocFlow. When we test the connection with the "test" button it tells us that it can't find the specified file - and if we try to scan a document, it doesn't come out on the specified machine.

I guessed it just couldn't find the windows LPR.EXE file, so I just copied it over to the DDF folder. Now it doesn't give an error, but when it prints (either with the "test" button or with a scanned doc) it just prints out garbage (like when printing a PS file on a non-PS printer).

The logs of the software aren't very helpful and the documentation lacks a troubleshooting section.

Anyone already got any of this?

    Hey mrWho,

In order for the LPR printing functions of DigiDocFlow to send the information correctly, you will need to have PostScript running for the target printer. This is due to the LPR nature, so as a quick test, you can run the following command through a Command Prompt window:

    LPR -S192.168.1.250 -P1 -d "C:\Archive\Scans\Target.PDF"

Of course, replace all the italics with applicable data (-S is the device IP, -P is the queue and -d is the file your printing).

This way, you should see similar results of garbage printing out, as this is a similar command that DigiDocFlow will run.

If you have further questions on this function, feel free to reply back here or drop us an email to support@digidocflow.com

    Thanks,

    Jason

Okay, thank you very much for your time answering this question. Unless I'm very mistaken, there's no mention on the manuals of that requirement.

Other than that hickup, the software seems to be running fine - it's a fine piece of programming. The documentation could use an overhaul though...

      Thanks again!
