    2045 jams

why is it that these particular models are always jamming. theres very few of these tht dont jam but the majority do. evanthough its a low mileage. stripper fingers are replaced. sensors and feed rollers are clean.

what are the main causes of these problems? is it mainly the feed clutches?

I really don't have serious problems with jamming. Replacing of pickup, feed, separation rollers should resolve it. Could also be a bad clutch. Ricoh clutches aren't the best ones.

I have over 50 of those and I visit them every 3 to 6 months....and no problems.

I also worked on floods of these machines without any real jamming problems. But, there are a few trouble spots and paper path sensors that can stick and get dirty. The exit/inverter sensors under the scanner area right above the fuser can be a trouble spot, along with the previously mentioned clutches.

The best thing for you to do is to pull the jam codes and identify which sensors the machine is pointing to. Good feed rollers and clean sensors should give you a decent running machine, unless they are all wholesale junk that was purchased really cheap.

A smc data sheet output would give you a hint, if you se sc 322 on the smc. Clean the switches behind the black fan next to the fusing unit. Probably caused by dust, but come back with more info. Were does the machine jam?

Af 2035/45 is in my opinion a very stable machine if you follow pm.

I agree with the rest of the replies. We have a ton of these and properly maintained they run very well with few chronic jamming problems. Maybe you're just on a bad streak with these, ash. Sometimes I have a streak of a certain model irritating the cr@p outta me.

On a personal note, I'd rather have 10 of the 2045 series than 1 of the MP4000/5000 series!

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

              No probelm here with Af.2045

I had a fleet of Af.2045 about 27 of them in one company. I followed 150K PM. All Operators like them, no serious jammings, no electrical or boards problem. My self I think this is the best of Ricoh.

Totally agree with LTD...The best Ricoh BW machines under 50 ppm.
What I dislike about them is the noise from the bypass....that started with 1045 and was never fixed until 4500.

                Same ratio as mentioned before...I'll service 10 x 2045 or 3045 instead 1 (one) 4000/5000.
