    Infotec ISC 3545 Counters

I'm obviously not a Copier Tech, but need to clarify an issue with the development counters on the above machine:

    1) each single page colour copy seems to increment the YMC counters by 3 and the black by 1
    2) a single page mono copy increments only the black by 1
    3) a single mono print increments the only the black by 1
    4) a single colour print increments the YMC by 2; no black increment
    5) a 3 page colour print increments YMC by 9 and the black by 3

I just need to find out if there's a rational explanation for this, other than I'm being seriously overclicked.

    Thanks,
    Houndy

You are not being over clicked, you said it in the first sentance of our post "development counters". The counts are for develpoments, not pages: to explain

    1) each single page colour copy seems to increment the YMC counters by 3 and the black by 1
A full colour copy comprises of 1 x Black, one of each of the coloures cyan, magenta, and yellow. It require all of the above colour developments to create all the colours of the spectrum.

    2) a single page mono copy increments only the black by 1
Single Black A4 Copy image, = Single Black Development increment

    3) a single mono print increments the only the black by 1
SIngle Black Print A4 = Single Black Dvelolpment also

    4) a single colour print increments the YMC by 2; no black increment
If the single colour you did was green for exmple it wouls use the cyan, and yellow to create, hence 2 x developments.

This is the correct way a MFP works as regards clicks you are NOT being ripped off, (unless you're clicks are very high of course.)

    Hope this helps

      Thanks for your reply,

While understanding that any colour copy is a composite of the black plus CMY, I cannot see how this would then relate to copy counts.

Surely there would be no way of knowing how many pages other than a maximum colour saturation (ie 1 black, 1 Y, 1M & 1C) have been printed?

In other words, how would the service company know how many colour copies have been produced, unless they take the counter for Colour / black development & divide by 1, 2, 3 or 4?

My concerns arise from the number of colour prints I'm being charged for vs the number of 90gsm paper sheets I've ever bought for this copier: we only use the 90gsm in this machine & the page count charged for is around 3x the number of sheets we've ever bought!

I have a meeting scheduled with the company in question, tomorrow PM (UK time) so would greatly appreciate any further feedback soonest!!!

      thanks again

I can only comment on how we bill our customers, we bill on how many developments the machine does, not pages. Our bills clearly state for example:

5000 x Black developments @ xyz pence per development
15000 x Colour deveoplments @xyz pence per development

This would equate to 5000 Full Colour Pages CMYKB A4 size.

Because the colour machines sometimes do not use all 4 developments to create some colours i.e green, this is how the machine calculates it.

You would have to understand the way the consumables life is worked out to fully understand. If you are not a tech you may struggle with the concept.

The dealer can however get the number of pages printed by entering the service mode of the machine. But a non trained person on the product must never do it, you may inadvertenlty damage the machine.

Once again this is how we work our billing, I cant possibly comment on other dealers, but I'm pretty sure most do the same.

          Thanks Daveyball;

I'm not a copier tech but I am tech for all other IT in our company!

Our bills also clearly state x quarterly copies @ y unit cost = z cost Plus VAT for each of the copiers - 1 aficio1060mono & the ISC 3545

As far as I can see from the bills, the CMY counter value is used as the copy count, which is rather different!

          cheers

We also used to bill by Developments, but it confused SOOOO many customers and our new Office Manager that we've just changed all machines to prints/pages.

We are being billed for copy costs though!

They just call one of the secretaries to call through with the counter values - no real evidence (aaargh!) & then bill us...

I know what you mean about confusing customers, but it seem to work for us, can't say anything about the Office manager though shes bigger than me

                Regards

Clearly though, as these counters are development counters, how would the service company be able to bill us per copy then??
