Mp 2510 sc 820/sc 819

Got a MP 2510 in the workshop that had a SC820 code. The code came on with initilization and you can't get into SP mode.

Fitted a new controller board with new NV RAMs and removed the fax board, now it gives a SC819!!

Tried booting with a SD card loaded with latest firmware but nothing changes, straight to SC819 and still cant get into SP mode.

Help!

Does it have the optional HD? Have you tried disconnecting it? Both those codes can be bad HD.

From reading your previous posts, I figured you had. But I had to ask. I'm going to assume you've also unplugged DF, finisher, any other accessories.

Was this out of box error? If so maybe you got the Monday morning hangover machine off the assembly line.

Just one more thing...I'm thinking out loud so bare with me here...
If the MBU is not seated the machine will throw the 819 on boot. I know you said you took the fax out, but try this...make sure the MBU is set firmly in place and then reinstall the fax. Maybe the machine is still looking for that fax since the code never reset.

Really odd that booting from the SD card with the DIP switch setting doesn't even work.

Dip Switch!!!! knew I forgot something, bugger it!! When ever the phone stops ringing I'll try loading firmware with the right dip switch on.

Do like your idea that its still looking for the fax, i'll get back to you with a result.

For those reading this thread: Dip SW 1 on the controller: Turn off to force the machine to boot from the SD Card. I call it Force Feeding Firmware. And it has been the answer to my prayers a few times. But don't forget to turn it on when you are done.

After a month of playing at service manager I've discovered that this copier is still lurking at the back of my workshop, and it hasn't fixed its self.

The story so far,
I've taken off the HDD, printer option and the fax, still got SC819
Fitted another BICU, IPU, operation panel and memory ramm and still get SC 819
Tried booting off the SD and got SC 672 (how much firmware do you need loaded? just engine or MFP or does it need the works)

Anybody seen anything like it?
The best guess I've got at the moment is the new controller board is duff and unfortuantly I dont have another MP 2510 to play swapsies with the controller board.

I have a very similar problem with an MP2510!

Displays SC 870,819,670,860 and 998. Followed several techs in, found machine displaying "Address Book error SC817" and SC819 together, found 128 MB Memory DIMM in slot 2 (Lower), Moved to slot 1, loaded latest system / engine firmware and reset address book with SP5846-50 so far so good!

Machine has no HDD.

Another tech also suggested the PSU as a possible. The machine seems to exhibit the problem when booting from sleep mode. Time will tell.

Otherwise I may look at the FRAM chips as they are MUCH cheaper than the control PCB.

I Finally Fixed Something!

At looooooong last I got back to this copier!
It turned out that the original controller board was frying the 128mb ram.
When I fitted the new controller board I used the old ram and of course transferred the problem as well, when I reinstalled the old board with a new ram I unwittingly damaged that ram as well. As I got more and more confused I kept swapping the boards around and damaged more and more rams.
Anybody know how to test the rams? the best out IT fella could come up with was to fit it to a laptop and run a memory test.
Any way its all solved now.

kindly explain to me more about fitting the ram to a laptop 'cos i have a similar problem in which the ram went bad.

The laptop that is used to test the ram has to have the Same type of ram slot and support that ram. Depends on the Type of Ram.

You have
PC100 SDRAM
PC133 SDRAM
DDR Ram (comes in many speeds)

Your Laptop will support only SDRAM or DDR Ram. Not Both. Check your manufacturers page on what Ram it supports.

Hardware that can check Ram is EXPENSIVE. A Ram Tester unit can get over $5000
