    Hey folks,
Got one beating me up. This machine intermittently spits out a page...print or copy...with a digitized line through the image. It usually happens when coming up from power save, but has happened from normal usage situations as well. It is very irregular, but I do have the machine in our shop at this point. We have replaced the entire laser unit, the BICU, the controller board, the ribbon cable, and the harness to the laser unit (what a pain). I recently delved into the bulletins, and have replaced the door switches even though this machine is outside the serial number parameters. Did the switches due to a 322 (laser) code even after changing the laser unit, as well as a software error code. Hoping someone has dealt with this as I'd like to keep my hair even though it's gray.
    Thanks,
    graybeard (Al)

In my experience I have had bad memory and once a HD also cause freaky digitized lines.

I would also reload firmware, even if you already have the latest on it. An injection of fresh firmware never hurts.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

        .

We had redone the firmware and replaced the HDD, but I hadn't even thought about the memory stick under the HDD. Pulled the 128MB stick that was on it, and installed a 256MB that we had spare from another install. So far it hasn't duplicated the problem, but it's only been three days. I'm crossing fingers hoping this takes care of it. I truly appreciate the thump on the back of the head.....sometimes I get too tied up headed in one direction. I'll be back cursing if it recurs. Our plan is to keep it here for at least another week before risking taking it back to the customer. (I'm sure they're incredibly upset with the full color loaner they're getting to use for free)
        Thanks again.
