    fax1140L error code

Hi, can anyone help please. I have a ricoh fax 1140l which when sending a fax appears to to every thing correctly but the fax is not received at the destiation and my machine produces a tx report which shows the connected number a tx time of 20 secs and an error code of 07. it also shows under the main box code 07 disconnected FF1820000.
what do the codes mean and how to correct the fault.
    Thanks in anticipation

Can you receive? Is it just one location? If so: Are you sure the fax number is correct? Could be the fax at the other end has a problem.

If you are a tech get your SM out and try changing the tx speed, ECM etc.

If you are an end user use the on-hook button to see if you have noise on the line. Make sure the phone cord is connected to the LINE jack on the fax....if that doesn't work call a local dealer.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

Thanks for your response Kopycat, to answer your questions yes the machine does receive ok also it copies ok so I would assume that printer and scanner are OK. It also does multicopy of several pages so wouldn't think that the memory is a problem. It has the same response to any machine. Although I have been fixing fax machines for years I dont have any soft switch listing for this machine, I can see there are many but no idea which to change

The 1140L is a UK model. I can't find any documentation on the US site.

Do you have a product code?

Perhaps some of our UK members can get the info you need.

        Sorry.

Maybe try the soft reboot: press/hold Stop for 15 seconds...I think that's the procedure
        Or power off/on?

07 Disconnect | The communication has been cut (bad connection) | Check the called number.
          Try send fax through "on-hook"
Maybe modify "TX speed" or turn "ECM" off in the "Tech Parameters"
          ( "arrow down" -> 29 -> OK )
If you have private network you need change "Type of network" ("arrow down" ->251 -> OK) and program prefix (what you dial before fax) "arrow down" ->252 -> OK. PSTN is regular line, PABX is private.

Patish, thanks for your reply, the settings you suggested didn't seem to make any difference. Fortunately I have now been able to locate a service manual for this machine and doing all the resets possible seems to have cured the problem. Many thanks for all imputs on this problem which is now sorted.
