You get 500 copies after "near-end" is detected and then you're out.

And by the by, nobody, but nobody likes this machine and eventually you will join the ranks.

Jomama46 thanks for the image. I'll check later the condition of the optic fibre link and report back.

        Cheers

Well i have cleaned the fibre optic lenses of both the copier and the Dev unit with isopropanol (which were quite covered in toner) and still the problem persists.
Getting pretty fed up of it now!! Could i take the dev unit apart and clean the fibre optic part inside?? Or is it a sealed unit??? Does anyone know if there is an agitator bar inside the dev unit which could be dislodged not allowing the toner to be moved??

Cheers again for all your responses....

just replace the developer unit. You are doing all of this work, spending all of this time for the inevitable.

There is a very good phrase that you need to remember when looking at the 1224c/1232c/3224c/3232c machines.

              "You can't polish a turd"

Have you tried the toner end clear in sp mode? this will reset the machine back to thinking it has a new toner. I remember there being a bulletin stating that the newer firmware eliminates the optical fibres for registering toner presence.

i have had this issue many times as i service a lot of these machines (unfortunately) and toner end set normally fixes this.

(be careful how much toner you take out of the cartridge for filling up the dev unit (manually) as this will screw up the readings on how much toner the machine thinks is in the cartridge) otherwise the machine will run out of toner without calling for it.
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

Maybe so but you can give it " a right good buffing out!!!"

On the off chance does anyone know where i would get hold of a Yellow Dev unit for this machine?? Either a new or remanufactured unit???

Or alternatively does anyone have a faulty machine i could buy the yellow dev unit from???

                      Cheers

Don't you think being compared to a 1224c might offend the turd?
