    1022 hard drive question

    Hi Guys,

I have a machine(1022) with sc 870 and i am going to replace the hard drive, is it a sata laptop drive and will 40 and 80 gb do the trick?
(dont want to be paying ricoh an extortionate amount for one)

Do i need to format it into FAT 32?

    Your help is appreciated.
Networking skills are advantageous but use of a 3m vacuum cleaner is essential

Yeah, 40 or 80 will work. Our shop buys HD's from TigerDirect, but for emergency's we will go to a local PC shop and buy older drives from him at a steal.

The first law states that energy is conserved: The change in the internal energy is equal to the amount added by heating minus the amount lost by doing work on the environment.

i think its 40GB IDE HDD. as mention no need to format for new HDD.

        Good Luck.
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

The original should be a 10G IDE laptop drive. Anything larger than this should work. Format it in service mode after you install it. There is no firmware on it, but anything on the document server, or downloaded fonts, will be lost.

Any standard 2.5" HDD will do.

You have to copy the stamp data to the new drive after formatting it on the copier. The HDD is only used for the document server on that model so it is not really needed. On later models, the HDD is part of the print option.
