I have a wide format aficio RW 470 with a interface boad, I use print funtion only, what will I do if I want to use scan funtion more ?

You will have to purchase the scanning option, go to rspfiles.com and enter the license code, download and install the new key file. Scanning functions are done through Scantool. I am not a fan of this software.

I'm not exactly a raging fan either, but the later revisions are a little bit better.

Word to the wise, though; make sure that your host PC has gobs of memory, the more the better.

Printing doesn't use too much (it only has to buffer one line at a time), but scanning is a different animal. Scanning needs to be able to store an image of the entire page, which is quite memory intensive.

Good point - if I remember correctly, the actual requirement depends on the scan size, but PlotBase recommends 1Gb Min, 2Gb ideal. There was also an Administrative permission that had to be set on the older versions to allow the scanner to reserve large chunks of memory. That is part of the setup instructions, so hopefully it was done when the system was put together. If you get an error when you start scantool post back here, and I'll lookup the instructions.
