The cards are becoming difficult to acquire, but Precision Roller can still get them for about 60.00.

Updating firmware with the old PCMCIA cards are a much more time consuming process than with an SD card, so I have to ask why you need to update if the machine has been in the field and working for this long.

If you really do need to update, set aside a few hours, read the procedure carefully, and make sure bad weather isn't coming in so power won't blink.

            2045 firmware upgrade

You will also need a programme called "Memory Card Explorer for Ricoh" on your laptop and if your running XP you will have to disable Service Pack 2 or you will find yourself staring at the dreaded Blue Screen of Death every time you boot up.

Sounds a lot esier just to convert it into a pile of parts!

can the 2045 update firmware via web interface? I tried a firmware update via crossover (on a different machine) after I saw kopycat recommend it and I'm a believer now.

You cannot do a remote upgrade with the 2035. The 3xxx series of machines were the first to offer this feature.

819/829 randomly and if we swap HDD and or machine (moving control board) the problem follows the control board yet if we strip HDD nic and ram they work and yes we have tried diffrent ram/nics its always these 3 boards that have issues and we were hopeing the firmware was the issue

Come to think of it ,the deadly blue screen may just be a Toshiba laptop/MCER/ SP2 thing

Hmm... Firmware might fix it, but be prepared for the prospect of new Controller boards :|

we refurb them and they dont give us many problems and we make fair money on them even selling them for under 4k

heck we hve 2 out that do approx 2 cases of paper a month that dont generate service calls
