i have a machine typt ft 6655 with this problem:"
recipient toner full" if recipient toner is empty.

I think that's a photointerrupter that detects if the bottle is there or not, and it either has toner on it or the connector might be loose or broken.

I would check the area that 'changes state' when the bottle is full/empty/not installed.

The machine must "ON" before you take out and put in the waste bottle..Good luck...
