LDAP logging and scan with LDAP's user email address as a sender (Ricoh's MFC)

Hi there,

I'm wondering if it is possible for a final user to connect to the MFC printer by logging with LDAP (in the printer's panel) and then scan an email sending the scanned email withe the user's LDAP email address (attached to the user in his/her LDAP account) as the sender ("From:" part of the email).

I mean, John has a LDAP account with john@ldapemailadress.com as his email address attached in LDAP server. He heads to the printer, then scans an invoice and sends it without the need to write his own address, he only writes the target email address, like john@ldapemailadress.com.

And then the final result would be:

From: john@ldapemailadress.com
To: john@ldapemailadress.com

Does anyone have a clue on it? Is it possible?

The MFC printer's I have to deal with are:

Ricoh MP2550
Ricoh MP5000/MPc4000
Ricoh Mpc3500/MP4500
Ricoh MP 2510
dsm745/dsm725 (Aficio 3045/3025)
dsc435 (Aficio 3235C)

Anyway, any answer on the topic about Ricoh's/Gestetner's printers is really worth.

Two ways to go about this... Logging into a LDAP server is not an issue and straight forward as can be.

Enter your LDAP info under File Transfer settings (I think that's were it is) and make sure you can actually search the LDAP server. At this point, comes what your asking about... attached the senders name to the e-mail.

1 - The easiest way to do this is assign the each MFP it's own e-mail address through Exchange or whatever your using. Then, again under File Transfer settings, enter that address into the "Administrators E-Mail" and turn on "Auto Attach Sender". AAS, pulls the e-mail address to put as the sender from the admin e-mail that you enter and unfortunitly no where else.

2 - The other way would be to enter everyone that will be sending e-mails by way of the MFP's into the address book of the MFP they will use most or all of them. And make sure to turn on the "Sender" function under the Protection TAB when making the entries.

As you can see, 1 is the simplest way. Although you don't get the personal feel to your emails, but... most larger companies do it this way, just to skip the step of having to attach the senders name.
