    MPC2050 Sp Moving, any advice??

    Dear Friends,

we have a MPC2050sp installed, my custormer has to move to another location (1600 km far way). On the 4th of August we must un install the machine and let the "movers" transfer furnitures and machines.

It's first time for us getting this kind of unusual situation, do you have any advice before moving?
    - Keeping up machine (sure)?
    - There's a way to lock Drums or Toners?
Thanks to all of you for help.

    Vincenzo

Remove the paper and toners. Tell the movers not to tip the machine not even a little.

      2.3.6 TRANSPORTING THE MACHINE

      1. Do SP 4806-001 to move the scanner carriage from the home position. This prevents
dust from falling into the machine during transportation.
      2. Make sure there is no paper left in the paper trays. Then fix down the bottom plates
with a sheet of paper and tape.
      3. Do one of the following:
Attach shipping tape to the covers and doors.
      Shrink-wrap the machine tightly.
After you move the machine, Make sure you do the "Auto Color Registration"
as follows. This optimizes color registration.
Do the "Forced Line Position Adj. Mode c" (SP2-111-3).
Then do the "Forced Line Position Adj. Mode a" (SP2-111-1).
To check if SP 2-111-1 was successful, watch the screen during the process. A
message is displayed at the end. Also, you can check the result with SP
      2-194-10 to -12.
Make sure that the side fences in the trays are correctly positioned to prevent
      color registration errors.

I CAN'T Believe they don't mention removing the toners. Yea Remove the Toners

I think it doesn't really matter if the toner bottles are installed or not - the system used in that series is nicely sealed so there must happen quite a lot before that is an issue (a stairway freeride or something like that^^).

Depending on the outdoor/indoor temperatures it's sometimes necessary to wait a few hours before you turn on the machine after moving (moisture!).

Yes I think you are right. On the previous Generation the C2525 Savin you were instructed to remove the toners due to spillage on the transfer assembly.

As for moisture in the machine. Very possible on that long a ride.

Most Ricoh medium size devices will be fine being transported. As well as the useful advice already offered.

From experience make sure all screws and bits taken off are neatly bagged and labeled. The apart from actual damage by the removal company, screws and attachments missing is the biggest issue from experience. Often they get left behiond when packing or the removal company somehow throw away. In the UK most Copiers I seen moved round have a simple wrapping of industrial clingfilm to keep off dirt liquids and stop the pannels getting marked up.

Are the company moving experienced at moving office equipment?
Worth placing a label on top of the copier saying please do not place any heavy weights. Amazing how often a heavy box is placed on top for convenice of the people moving or once its left at the site awaiting reinstallation. You could put the plastic scanner stay back in place if you have it still with the device.

I would also advise printing out a few copies and the smc data keep a set with the device on the platen glass and some with you in case of any arguements. To prove the device was fine when you last saw it.

Never leave anything in the trays, seen to many devices where once switched on a nasty noise is heard from the trays.

ALWAYS EMPTY ANY WASTE TONER BOTTLE IF POSSIBLE

If possible worth place some sillca gel bags and certainly worth allowing the device to sit where in its new home for a while before powering up if possible. Especially if it rains or left over night in a lorry or warehouse.

From the hundreds of moved devices more often the sorter will be the device which will often be the part which needs attention.

I think more toner will scatter if the toner cartridges aren't installed.

All our machines are setup in the workshop and shipped with the toners still installed and never had any problem. We do use a logistics company that only moves copiers though.

I setup all the machines in the shop and Never ship with toner installed. I have seen too many toner spills. Especially a copier with a pull out toner carriage like a 725 or 161. Inevitably when I demonstrated the how to add toner, the toner would be spilled out into the carriage. Not a good show.
Probably the way the truckers carried it or whatever. I found I can avoid it by just removing the cartridge before shipping.

Yes on this model you can remove the toner Cartridge and manually close the toner entrance hole. Its right up front on each tube.
