    Ricoh field service card

ok i have a card that "should" work is there any special formatting involved or is it plug and play now?

if it is special can someone make a clone image of your card and send it to me?

What kind of card are you talking about? Firmware update? 4M or 64M?

Is it the recommended 4MB Card? If not good luck. I had a co-worker spend days trying to make a generic card work with no luck. Several of us even offered to loan him one of our cards but his bullheadedness was determined to MAKE that card work. In the end the correct card was used.

As for the format I have never formatted a pcmcia card for firmware. It writes in binary to the card. The only thing I always do is set it to erase the card before writing the new data.

Here is the help file for the Ricoh MCE.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

Chances are its not going to work. The machines that use the pcmcia card only recognize a 4MB card...at least that's what Ricoh told us in training. I was lucky enough to go to training way back when Ricoh was handing them out to the students everytime you went to a class. They stopped when they realized how much they cost.

Try these contacting folks...we buy all our memory from them and I believe they may carry the 4mb proprietary card for use in the Ricoh products.

What model are you trying to update? The ones that use them are so old now, I can't remember the last time I had to flash a card to update a copier.

                            NO-Generic brand on this

The Ricoh pcmcia cards can not be replaced with an off the shelf card. They look & feel the same but there is an internal difference to the Ricoh cards. Your boss will have to get you the tools you need to do the job right. He has already wasted more money on you trying to format the wrong card than what the Ricoh card would have cost in the first place.
