scan to folder - folder does not exist

i have scanrouter v2 lite running on a windows 2000 box. i logon to the windows box locally, and then map a drive to X: using my Novell credentials (i have full access to the specified directory). when i go into scanrouter admin to try and set up the mapped directory as a destination, i get "the specified folder does not exist" when i select it, even though i can browse to the directory just fine in windows, and create files manually.

    whats going on?

I havent used this for a while, but it rings a bell that scanning to a mapped drive is a limitation of scanrouter. Are you able to scan to folders on non-mapped drives?

i found out some interesting information - apparently if you run scanrouter lite as a service on windows 2000, you can't scan to mapped drives. but if you run it as a program or at startup, you can. xp doesnt support mapped drives at all.

That's because under Windows services start before drives get mapped.

As far as XP goes, Microsoft changed DCOM security between Windows 2000 and XP.

A search on this site will reveal quite a few hits under this topic.

is there any way to run it as a service while still maintaining the drive mapability (i think i just invented that word) ? don't really care how ghetto the solution, as long as it works

A mapped drive is just a shortcut for the user. Since this folder will be entered ONCE during configuration, why are you so set on using the mapped location rather than simply specifying the full path name?

            Am I missing something here?

If you do a web search, you can find a bunch of shareware that can watch a folder every x number of minutes, seconds, etc... and move the contents to any drive you like.

That way, you can run ScanRouter Lite as a service.

Note: That limitation is lifted is ScanRouter Pro.
