MP4000/MP4000 - experiences with new toner

    Hi there,

I think it's about time to revise our experiences with the modified toner for the MP4000/MP3500 series. As for the machines I've visited so far I can't really report good news. All in all the machines from the MP4000 series are still running into a light image density at around 30-60k prints. These values are connected to the customers quality demands of course - if you visit a light image after 70k you'll never know when it's really started to become that way.. So far I also can't see a differency in reliability between the machines wich have the new dv unit/mag roller installed or not. My sad conclusion: I haven't seen any MP4000/5000 running from PM to PM without any "light image/background" service calls and i doubt that this will ever happen in my field.

And the mag rollers become still coated with melted toner. We're now polish them with NevrDull - dunno if that will improve anything.

    Btw:

After cleaning the mag roller the image density is usually just slightly improved but still much lighter compared to printouts with new dev. It seems that the toner supply logic of these machines is generally working too sparingly.

I have had some success so far, but when the first of the new toner began to go out I started changing the developer in machines when the supply of the old style toner was gone. I also cleaned out all of the waste toner in the drum unit and it has worked with a good deal of success so far, but the most clicks on one of the machines I've worked with is only 85,000 and the copy quality has held up so far.

I haven't seen much change with the new toner either. Are you turning back the chg roller voltage?? When ever the mag roller get coated it jacks the chg roller voltage up to about 1800, instead of the 1500.

I'm pretty sure you will get the new toner if you try to order with the old number. And very sure you will get the new mag roller assy if you try to order with the old part number. Both have a different part/supply number than the original product.

We've turned the SP's back according to the latest RTB but some may of course alter during process control.

No. We got the new toner before we read about it here at copytechnet. The official bulletin is just available on ricoh's german partner-portal since a week or so. I'm glad to know other sources - it's always phun to mention that to the hotline guys

Can only speak for the UK and i belive Europe but normally once the old edp or part number is superseded and stock depleted the system automatically orders the newer version.

With the toner bottle you can tell you have a newer bottle by the edp code which will have changed (there is a list in the TB's) and there is an A at the end of the batch number.
