I was called out ot this copier with customer saying the screen changed and did not look like anything they had seen before. The wrench light was on yet customer said there was no error code present. I asked that they leave the copier as is yet they had reset the copier before I arrived by unplugging copier; they forgot the reset switch was the main switch on the left side. When I arrived the copier allowed me to make a copy. Customer said they could not maually select the tray they wanted or be able to lighten or darken the copies. That I did experience; I had to press the area I wanted below the area wanted. I could not even get the setting for a lighter copy to work. I went to user tools and had the same problem trying to press the block I wanted. The next thing I did was go frpm copy mode to Document server yet when I went back or tried to go back to copy mode the screen went black the on/off switch on top led was on. The screen would then come back up but said please wait then went back to a black screen and continued this cycle. I removed the HDD yet the problem was still there. I contacted Hy-tech and they thought it was either the BICU or controller PCB. I did inform them that I did access the SC history and the following codes had occurred today: SC 670; 991(I did not mention) and 870 which didn't come up until I removed the HDD. I cleand all connections on the BICU and Controller PCB's and left the copier working. The only service manual I have is for the Ricoh 2035; I'm not sure if SC and special funtion codes are the same. I noticed that after the copier is forst turned on or turned off then on when choosing a cassette or any other function on touch screen there is a 3-4sec delay yet becomes instantaneous after less than minute is that normal???
When cleaning the PCB connections I noticed that the cable coming from the optics unit to the BICU PCB did not seem seated properly I was wondering if that could be the cause of the touch screen troubles???

on any of this.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
