    MP 5500 dark copy

The printing is perfect. When you copy say, 1st page of SMC report the characters are a good bit darker than the origional making the image appear bigger. There is no background or grey areas. The machine has just been fully serviced after lying idle for a couple of months. New drum, blade, brush, dev, filters,hr,pr and dev bushings. All settings in sp are what they should be, any ideas please.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

Adjust your laser settings to min and max to see if you get any change. If you dont then i would suspect a bad laser.I had one that went bad after being in the field for only a couple of months. It gave me about the same cq issue you have.

Printing is perfect, so must be image processing somewhere.....

You implied it. But, sp5990-6 all looks good/reasonable?

Could the generation or pale copy setting be in effect?

      Perhaps a dim scan lamp?

Can you see the same effect when scanned to a tiff or pdf?
