    Ricoh/Savin Wide Format Question

Has anyone on this forum Ever Setup a Wide Format Printer from Ricoh?

I've not and the sales team is considering selling them. No we aren't trained on them and I'm sure we won't be.

I know the Scan feature is an option. What about the Copy? Does the print require a Print Server PC? Something Ricoh sells or just a Generic XP Machine?

I've seen Xerox have their own Pc's for their wide formats in some cases. Any help would be great. Thanks

Do you know what model or models you are considering selling? The new digitals are really nice.
On the flip side, i love the Canon IPF models.Put them out in the field and let them run.Only have had to replace the cutters and maintenance units.

Unfortunately its all in theory at this moment. The boss asked the sales team to build quotes and they are looking at their pricing guides going duh and asking us. Just wondering what I'm looking forward to and the needs of these machines.

They are nice machines and dont give us too many problems. Most problems are customer related and not the machine.Worst case was a power supply that we had to wait on from Ricoh but, other than that they have been good on parts.

2404wdp I have discovered. Would this just need a Basic Windows XP Machine hooked up to it for the Printing Service or a High End Machine?

The newer machines use GW architecture so you don't even need to bother with Plotbase, it works as a network printer. I think it's the Beluga that uses the GW2007A controller.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

Yeah we don't have access to any of the info on the wide formats except for what the boss and salesman can lookup. And well.... Not gonna go there. Thanks!

                    RICOH A0 Machines

The Ricoh family has the following:
                    MPW 2400 - 2.4 A0 cpm/ppm. Basically copier. Print & mono scan are optional.
                    MPW 3600 - 3.4 A0 cpm/ppm. Basically copier. Print & mono scan are optional.
                    MPW 5100 - 5.0 A0 cpm/ppm. Basically copier. Print & color scan are optional.
                    MPW 7140 - 7.0 A0 cpm/ppm. Basically copier. Print & color scan are optional.

Sales positioning is MPW 2400 - entry, MPW 3600/ 5100 - mid, MPW 7140 - High end based onconsumption volume & frequency.

                    MPW 2400/ 3600 & MPW 5100/ 7140 major differences;
                    80 GB HD Vs 2 x 160 GB HD
1 or 2 Roll feeder (option) Vs 2 Roll feeder (default)
                    mono scan Vs color scan
                    2.4/ 3.4 A0 cpm Vs 5/7 A0 cpm
                    Life: 180,000 LM (2400/ 3600) Vs 390,000 LM (5100) & 1,000,000 LM (7140)

All machines have 2 types of Print & scan controllers. These are the GW (internal & embedded) and Ratio (external) controller. Normally GW controllers for an unmanned office NW environment (General office) where as Ratio controller for an operator controlled CRD environment (Copy shop).

File support is pretty rich. Advisable to enquire with customer on OS, NOS and apps he is planning to print from. Plus some really cool options like direct printing of certain file formats w/o opening the app is available to facilitate batch printing.

Yes, you can print AutoCAD files in GW.
External Print server/ PC typr arrangement is in ratio controller only andthis is more expensive. Unless really required refrain from suggesting Ratio.
