    ricoh 1515 screeching noise

its like a deep screeching noise its very difficult to explain the type of noise its making. produces noise most of the time.

this noise occurs towards the end of the print. does the same thing through bypass. put fresh paper in and still the same.

its not the cassette fricktion pad and its not the transfer roller bushing.

machine has only done about 150k approx. has recetmy had a new pcu.

anyone had the same kinda noise on this type of machine before?

I'm thinking either the feed clutch or the when the sep pad was replaced the rubber damper wasnt added. See item # 24

Since it does this from Bypass or Tray we can rule out Friction pads most likely.

You say a new PCU, but I've seen these become bad due to improper greasing by Savin. If its not that then something with the main motor rubbing on a belt in there perhaps.

Think you can output test and very if its main motor or fuser. Some can remove PCU while SP modes to test and listen.

Hey Ash, Could it be your polygon? It's hard to interperet screeching but I would call a bad polygon motor a screech. I believe there is an output code to isolate this motor. Sometimes when they go out they have a hard time getting up to speed and then screech.

True thing Mutt. I've never encountered one going out. All the other techs here have, but lucky me has not lol. 5 years in the Business and never heard one go out. Just dead ones.

Worn or dirty sep fingers in the fuser can cause some screaching noises sometimes also.
