    Nashua D445 / Ricoh 450 - SC401-02

    Hello there, guys and girls!

I'm a total newbie on this machine, and most of my experience lies with Konica Minolta copiers, so forgive me if I sound fresh.

I'm getting this error SC401-02 on a Nashua D445. The manual tells me it's related to the transfer belt currents. At first the error was random, being that I was able to get several copies before the error came up. Now it's much more frequent. I checked the contacts and everything seems fine. The manual states:

    - High voltage supply board defective

How can I know and be sure?

    - Poor connection between the transfer current terminal and the high voltage supply board

I'm about to open up the machine to check the HV board, but on the transfer belt side it all seems OK.

    - Poor PCU connection

Again I took out the PCU and checked the contacts.

Probably I overlooked something? Is this a common occurrence on this model? If so, what are the common causes?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

    Cheers!

Often this is pinholes in the transfer belt but check the connections on the side, vac the unit, clean everything, replace the belt and try it again.

Thanks to you both for the kind feedback. I'm not working on the machine right now, but as soon as I get the chance, I'll give you some feedback.

About that clutch, iMind, does it fire up that code because the clutch fails to rotate or because of something else (currents passing through or anything else)?

        Thanks once more!

I've got that clutch in my hand, and at first it doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it, but then again it's the first one I see. How do I know whether there's something wrong with it?

Next step is to check the belt for pinholes.

Hard to judge out of the machine. Reinstall then look at it. When you make a copy it should rotate 1/3 of the way, when the copy is over it goes to the HP.

Thanks. I'm going to clean it (it's soiled with toner - the whole machine is, in fact) and then going to put it back. I don't want to do much work on the machine, since I need to give the customer a quote before doing any real work.
