Ricoh AF3245c - line of coloured dots across page

Hi - seeing as how I got so much good info from my last post here, I thought I'd try again for some ideas.

Ive been working on a AF3245c that has a line of cyan, magenta and yellow dots ACROSS the center of the page - not from leading edge to trailing edge. It only happens on colour and dosnt matter if its printed or copied.

I have replaced the transfer belt twice and also the transfer belt cleaning unit. The first time I replaced the belt it went away for a couple of weeks then came back.

The machine has been thouroughly cleaned - all pcu's and dev tanks removed and inspected. I really cant think of what else to do now - its all colours so it cant be the pcu's, I really think its gotta be the transfer belt or the cleaning unit which have both been changed and didnt help.

Any other ideas would be really apreciated!
    Thanks.

Have you taken a look at the belt in the fusinig unit, are any of the pawls bent out of position?

I checked you last topic and it seems easy to gain some informations here but it's some kind of hard to give own feedback about what was finally the solution....

So what fixed this particular problem?

I think this was related to his old problem

            Well,

it's a bit hard to tell about this one. Maybe you can upload a good quality scan of a sample page? I guess you've swapped the BK drum with one of the color drums testwise to check if there's really nothing wrong with them? Sometimes arc marks can force lines across running directions. In this case you should see the actual mark/dot somewhere inside the line/bar.

Another possible issue would be the drive. You should remove the PCUs testwise and move the drive manually to feel if the gears are running smooth or not.

If the lines looks kind of "digital" you may have a problem with the laser.

Turns out the Cyan and Magenta PCU's were the problem - dont know how or why. The yellow was also faulty but to a lesser degree.

What threw me was the line of dots was across the page, not leading to trailing edge. And it was dots - not a solid line. The only thing I can think of was perhaps the transfer belt assy gouged a line in the PCU's as it was taken out of or put into the machine - although there are no lines visible.

Thanks for the ideas, I wasnt going to play around with the fuser or the PCU's as I figured there was NO WAY they could be the problem! Glad I posted a reply in my last post.....
