Ricoh FT 4615 (Nashua equivalent) Spots on copies

Sorry to bring up this (apparently stone age) old machine, but I'm tackling a problem that I'm not sure of what the causes are.

The machine was repaired some time ago from dark copies - it was the exposure lamp that wasn't giving enough light.

When delivering the machine, I noticed some dark spots (like toner clouds - blue circles on the attachment) and I assumed it was because the machine was stopped a long time and on top of that it's in a basement. So I told the customer that it would probably go away with the use, and off I went. This was a month or so ago.

Now the customer calls and tells the copies are dirty. Since it was already a month since I were there, I assumed this was a new problem - it wasn't. The customer just waited for someone to go there (a salesman, in this case) to complain about the problem.

Now, besides the "toner cloud", it's doing some marks that look like the ones you get when the drum is damaged (red arrows), but the drum is fine (at least it doesn't have any marks) and the marks don't repeat from copy to copy - they're completely random.

Anyone can explain me what is causing this? I'm more experienced with Konica machines and I never go something like this.

    Cheers!

IF that machine is anything like the Savin 9115 the thing is looking like in my search. Almost looks like some light or age on the drum. Its not spots on the drum or it would repeat since that machine has that tiny drum. So either the Drum Blade isn't cleaning well.. with age they yellow and get hard, clean badly.

Also looks like uneven charge in the DV. Old DV and moisture in DV from basement sitting.

Hi.. Has the problem been solved?? If not pls try vacuuming the PC Unit after taking out the drum and blade. Pay special attention to the recycling unit. After this physically check both the development & cleaning entrance seals and replace if defective. Have a nice day.

Thanks all for your feedback. No, the problem is not solved yet, since I'll only be able to go there Friday (they're only open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and then only from 6PM to 7:30PM - yep, it's a government thing )

As soon as I go there, I'll try all your suggestions and then post here the results!

          Cheers!

Geezz, this one takes me back a few years!

I'd hazzard an educated guess that the cleaning blade is yellow and warped and the toner recycle path, the little conveyer belt, is clogged causing a big build up of crap behind the cleaning blade which is dropping onto the drum in random splots.

I dont know where you are in the world but the sub tropical humidity in Brizzy killed off these boxes years ago. It turned all the foam seals into chewing gum.

Vacuum behind the clean. blade-as Lagonda says-there is too much toner for recycling and it is clogged.
              Replace developer too.(Routine 66)
