    Mp1600 mp 2000 sc120

I have a very strange problem, I have a customer with an Mp 1600 and is getting SC120 errors.

    Scanner home position error 1
    120 B
The scanner home position sensor does not detect the off condition during initialization or copying.
    1. Scanner home position sensor defective
    2. Scanner drive motor defective
    3. Scanner home position sensor connector defective
    4. Scanner drive motor connector defective
    5. BICU board defective

I've been there, testing, when I run scans, copies everything through the adf, the machine works fine.

When I use the glass, copies are fine. But scanning and faxing on the glass is a big problem.

When I scan the scanner moves about half and inch and coughs up SC120, this is also the same for faxing. When I copy off the glass the machine is fine.

So I looked up some stuff on the site here and I found that some people have replaced the scanner motor and home sensor. I did that, with limited success.

Now when I scan on 100 dpi and 200 dpi on the glass, I get the SC120, but when I scan at a higher resolution, 300 dpi, 400 dpi and 600 dpi, it works fine.

I've called Ricoh, no help at all.

I'm at my wits end, I can't see it being the home position sensor since the unit works fine when scanning is set at a higher dpi. But this is really ticking me off.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you are down to the BICU board. Have you tried swapping that out?
