    MP4000/5000 feedback

I just wanna post back on these two machines I've been at in the last 2 days. The 4000 has 267k on it and had the inaugral dev unit/dev/toner and pcu change at 152k, so it's lasted 115k before getting the grey background again. The 'new' mag roller was coated very thickly in 'new' toner wax and the charge roller was filthy aswell. After a good clean and new dev it's running perfectly-but for how long I wonder? Then this morning I went to a 5000 with only 83k on it, albeit old dev and toner so I did all the necessary bits to it. It will be interesting to see how long this one goes for before getting that wonderful grey hue
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I'll assume you've had the new style toner in for 115k along with the new dev unit and pcu?

I've still had some scumming on machines with the new style toner, however, since we aren't getting anything from Ricoh to resolve the issue (returning old style toner for credit or compensation for over 2 years of frustration and NUMEROUS unnecessary parts thrown at a problem when techs were telling them what the problem was), we have just been depleting our stock of old toner to customers who aren't having issues yet and handing out the new style when there is an issue. At this point we are sending out only new toner, but all those machines who still have a cache of old style still exhibit the issue from time to time. The machines that had dev units, developer and new style toner with a thorough cleaning of the waste unit, have been spot on as far as I know. I'll double check at our service meeting on Friday.

Samir: No, not again. I... why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to God, one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window.
Michael Bolton: You and me both, man. That thing is lucky I'm not armed.

I can't really see much improvement with the new toner so far
