Removing light scratch from wideformat drum possible?

I have a Ricoh 240w wide format drum that has a surface scratch that you can barely see on the drum with the naked eye, but will show up on the image. I have used Never dull, Brasso, and a very fine sand paper, each caused the scratch to become less noticeable, anyone have any other suggestions, the drum is pretty worn just hoping to get a little more life out of it for the customer.

Generally I don't have any trouble with these going well past the yields. Most go to 60k+ some over 100k.

do you know what the yield is? this one has 98k in feet

On the old Selenium Drums we would fill chips with nail polished. Colour up to you.

IIRC, yield is 32k or 36k LINEAR feet. If you change the meter setting for billing you'll have to convert it.

FWIW, I usually just use generic drum polish on light scratches. If the coating is chipped away, you can to try and fill it in with nail polish (like a paint chip on your car). You will end up with a void area at that spot and I haven't tried it on since the selenium drums. (Have I really been doing this that long?) Usually it's customer caused and they get a bill if the drum hasn't made it's expected it's life.

If it's near death anyway just replace it. Drums in Ricoh wide format have odd failure symptoms anyway.

If you're at 98k, you've already got three times the life out of it and it's time to replace it. I know the cost of a drum and blade is salty, but if all the MP4000/5000 got 450k per PM you could knock me over with a feather. If you run CPC on that machine, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the cost.
