    Ricoh Aficio 1035

I got called out to this machine, Ricoh Aficio 1035, where the customer told me they were getting dark copies and an SC304 came up on their display. However the machine also gave SC350 codes as well and an SC990 once. The SC350 came up the most. We replaced the ID sensor and had thought the problem had gone away but the problem tends to be sparatic when it happens, and the problem is that the drum becomes completely covered in toner, and I don't mean just hazed, solid black. My questions are has anyone else had any problems such as these with this machine, crossovers are a Savin 2535, and Lanier 5635, and what can be done to solve this problem? I know the SC304 is a charge roller problem but I don't think that is the initial problem because I replaced the drum unit which had a different charge roller in it. Any help appreciated, thank you.

Check all of the springs and grounding tabs right around the charge roller. If everything is not sitting just right, black copies can occur. This was one of the many things that bugged me about this machine; the overall sensitivity of the drum section and how it was so flimsy.

I found that if the PM's were carried out as per the Manual and all parts changed as per Schedule the Machines would run OK between Pm's.
Invariably you would find the machines that got through the net would produce Codes such as SC990 from time to time.

If you replaced the drum unit, you may have a bad board. Maybe a solder connection that is cracked. You are losing charge for one reason or another. I would replace the high voltage board that feeds the charge roller.

ask the costumer what toner they used, sometimes they use different toner by refilling from other toner, that is my experiece before

There is a metal 'spike' at thre rear of the drum unit which is the earth strap, if this is bent/broken or not making good contact you will have black copies. Also check the 2 bushings that the charge roller sits in,if they are very dirty or missing you get black copies.Good luck
