You need a 4MB Flash Memory Card (PCMCIA), Ricoh Memory Card Explorer program, and the language firmware. If you're not a tech it can be difficult to do this (Updating firmware is not for endusers).

I only have Dutch language, which isn't a good idea, I think. Maybe someone else has the English language. The firmware is a *.BIN file which you should copy on the Flash Card. Then place the card into the machine (remove left rear cover). Place the card and switch on the machine. After a few moments the machine displays the recent firmware and the one on the card. Select which language you want to replace, and press update.
After the update switch off the machine and remove the card. Choose the new language in User Tools

me again! By the way sir, i also have some machines (Aficio 1045) that are in english version. Is it possible that i could copy that firmware? Also i would like to ask if is it advisable to remove the ram on the mainboard? Someone advise me that maybe i should try replacing the ram but i never did it because maybe it's too risky. Thanks again.

You can not copy the language firmware from one machine to another as far as I know. Replacing the RAM doesn't make a difference, for the RAM is not used for the language firmware. The firmware is copied to a ROM chip.

The language firmware file does usually contain all languages but you can only copy two of them into the machine. I think the most easy way is to ask another ricoh dealer in your area if he would borrow you an already prepared PCMCIA card because it may be complicated to purchase the memory card explorer software and even more complicated to get it running. This software is a pure mess and won't work with all mainboard chipsets and PCMCIA adapters.

You can copy firmware from one machine to another, use side B of your card.

                    - Turn off the main switch, remove the flash memory card cover. Insert the flash card with printed B side facing the front of the machine, Turn on the machine, press the Yes key.
Program Upload from BICU to Flash Card. Follow the procedure above except, hold down the OPERATION Switch when turning the Main power switch on. Press Yes

Yeah I can recall that SP but I think that's only the engine FW you can rip out of the machine - not very useful if you are looking for other FW files.
