I have a problem after i replace a pair of new HDD for this machine , the address book management at machine are empty but the user code i set before still can use but can't see at the address book. how can i retriever back the information that in the ROM back to the HDD .
Anyone can help ????

Did you back up the address book information before replacing the hard drive? If not, then the information for the address book is lost as it is stored on the hard drive.
If you did and it's not adding the exported settings to the machine, try SP 5-846-050 to initialise the address book settings for the new drive. Then try importing again.

i have no backup of the address book information , but all the user code at machine still can use and i can print out the usage of every user , but if i initial the address book the all usage still be there ah?
at the address book management show there 32/1000 user can be program , the 32 user i program before .
can use but cannot edit & view .

The user codes for functional access are stored in NVRam, the rest of the address info, Fax Numbers, Email Addresses, etc. are on the HDD

This is a holdover from the machines where a HDD is optional, but the customer may still want access codes. Plus if you crash a HDD, you still can make a copy and manually input Fax / Scan / Email address info.

If you still have user codes then at least it is not a total loss. I tell my customers to make a back up every time they make a change. I ask them if they want to spend 30 seconds to restore or an hour to recreate the address book.

Here's a situation we had not too long ago...

Tech found that he was going to have to replace the hard drive of the machine. Lucky the customer maintained their address book with back ups. The tech replaced the drive and upon reloading the address book, found that he could not see any of the addresses from the Fax or Scanner menus unless he was logged in as "Admin" at the machine. Log out and all the addresses would disappear. Of course you could see all of them in the address book.

After a quick search on Global Knowledge Base, I found that the Admin Rights of the address book had been stripped. Hince he had to log in as "Admin" to use them. Anyway, to repair, he had to load Desktop Binder on a PC and back up the address book through it. Then, reload the address book through the same app. Worked like a champ! First time I had seen that one.
