We're on the verge of getting our hands on some of these. Since I know squat about them, I'm turning to you, fellow Ricoh techies. What can you tell me about the 2060, the ups and downs, qualities and defects, ins and outs? What should we look for and can we count on when dealing with them?

When you do PM at the right time these machines run excellent.

Use Nothing but OEM Toner..... If you use compatibles copies will go light and you will be changing developer every 3000 copies. Other than that great machine.

Best GW architecture Ricoh ever made for a BW machine. Way better that the newer models like 6000, or 6001. No Fax though. 5500/6500/7500 is the answer if you want fax.
Problems with thermistors as usual, but nothing major or weird.
PM the machine every 300 K and it will last easy over 4 millions prints/copies.
