    scan to mail dsc424

Hi guys, i'm trying to setup scan to mail on this dsc424.
i set it up all the time no problem, but only where the customers have there own mail server.
now i'm trying to set it up to an external mail server, and the scan is not going through...
    things i've done:
ping smtp.isdsl.net (to get the ip address)

    Am I missing something?

    Try the following:

Turn on SMTP authentication, most ISPs require this for any connection to their mail server.

Check the ISP's support website as they may use nonstandard ports for their email, and also to confirm that you do have the right email server name. Sometimes business users will have access to a different mail server than a home customer's account will.

See how those work for you.

Ping the mail server's IP through the MFP's network settings
if the ping doens't connect input the default gateway into the MFP's network settings.
if the ping does get a response call the ISP and ask what special settings you need. Probably as was pointed out above the mail server requires authentication.
