    Ricoh MPC2800

We had a problem with the SR3000 booklet finisher, it would not work.
Ricoh sent us a new finisher PCB but this would not activate the fold facility. We spoke to Ricoh Level 2 who suggested that we upgrade the firmware which we did however, the copier firmware error E32 was displayed and now the copier only says 'Please wait' on the display when restarted and will not do a thing.

    We would appreciate any help.

Download interrupted because card firmware is
not correct, or power failure interrupted download.
    Use the correct firmware
If power failure caused the failure, remove the card and
insert another then boot up the machine with the card inserted into service slot
sigpicWe can all Win, but at the end we all loose. Save the greyhound

This happened to me once as well, and it turned out to be me choosing the wrong finisher firmware. There are two, so you have to look closely. I ended up having to change the finisher card and the BICU rom to get the machine to work again. Sucks!
      Peace sells, but who's buying?

        MPC 2800 firmware

        Thanks for your reply Daniel,

We have ordered a new eprom and NVRAM plus a new finisher PCB.

Looking on the Tessa site we can only see one firmware upgrade for the SR3000 booklet finisher, which is the one I downloaded. I cannot see another firmware for this model finisher, unless I'm looking in the wrong area.

Can you tell me if you have this new firmware or where I can look for it on Tessa?

        Thanks.

The latest revision I can see on Tessa is B7935102 v1.24.

          There's also a warning:

Important before updating this firmware with Athena C1 & C2 you will need to make sure that all mainframe firmware is updated.

Did you update the machine firmware before installing the finisher firmware?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          Hit it.

            I can see two different firmwares, but I'm not sure which goes to what. You can tell from the version number and filename being different between files;

            B7935102D.exe, version 1.24
            D3725112.fwu, version 1.09:03
            D3725111.exe, version 1.08.03

The first file isn't the same as the two last, the filename is in a different format all together and the versions are way apart from each other. As I said, I'm not sure which one belongs to what finisher, but they are different that's for sure. Best thing is to look in the web image monitor and find out what firmware you've got in the finisher already, and then go from there.

This is where knowing the Model Code comes in handy.

The D372 (from D3725112.fwu) is the SR3050 finisher.
The B793 (from B7935102D.exe) is the SR3000 finisher.

                Ours is an SR3000 finisher.

This is the firmware we downloaded and also the firmware that totally corrupted the copier.

Try to put the firmware on the SDcard and put the card into service slot and try and see if the machine boots from the new firmware.

We have recieved the parts, Eprom and NVRAM plus a new SR3000 finisher PCB. However, apart from the copier now working fine, the finisher will not book fold.
The copier and copier browser can see the fold option but the paper will only come out straight. There is no error and the finisher will staple but will not fold.

This is the second finisher PCB we have fitted, as recommended by Ricoh.

I actually have this problem right now with one of my customers, except, nothing happened there to create this problem. After about 30 minutes of troubleshooting we found out that it was only one computer that had this problem, the others can book fold. After trying to change driver without result, we gave the issue over to their computer tech, seeing it's not our problem.

We thought about this since the customer had new HP PC's installed, but the copier will not fold even from the copier key panel.

                              Hi

Not sure if you're still having this fault on this machine. But I spent all of last Friday afternoon chasing a fault on a booklet maker on a mp8000. I know it's not the same machine, but it worth a shot. This machine was giving me a jam code J066, exit sensor.
In testing input and outputs, everything worked individually at the machine exit and finisher entrance. Even the motors worked fine. But every copy the paper would hit the entrance rollers of the finisher and jam. After calling backup in, and going through everything again, eventually we noticed a small piece of paper at the exit sensor to the booklet maker exit. You had to lay flat on the floor to see the bugger!

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, have you checked everything in the finisher unit. As it seems the machines get confused and don't always tell you the actual problem and throw up a random error codes?

                              Cheers
