    Gestetner A045 401 error (b125)

Having an error code with little support from Gestetner's service manuals.
I called Gestetner and since I am not certified on the B125, they will not support me with techincal assistance, SO....
The 401 error and service manual show 4 possible causes.
    1) ID sensor 2) mcu 3) Development unit 4) CGB power pack.
Now I can by pass the ID sensor in sp mode when the sensor is bad and the printer should function till a replacement is obtained. Still gives error 401. So ID sensor is most likely ok. The service manual has absolutly NO diagnostics for the rest of the componants.
Anybody come across this and well, What did you do? Shot gun repairs are silly and expensive. HELP!!! (please)

    ***UPDATE***
Well I got Tech support from Gestetner, There is not ANY diagnostics for the componants listed. SO I was told to start with the MCU and work my way down the list. SO here I go!!!!
Thanks for those that looked in on this.

Aye, looking at the manual it's a silly fault that could be caused by a shedload of different components. I had a Russian-C5 with a stupid fault, SC144-02, unfortunately I had to order nearly half the machine to fix it. I think with faults like this the shotgun approach isn't sensible but sometimes necessary.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

These four entries are from the Goose Guide...

SC 401 initialize ID sensor SP 3001-6 04-Apr-2008
SC 401 poor connection to ID sensor 04-Apr-2008
SC 401 replaced mcu board 04-Apr-2008
SC 401 tighten drum drive pulley set screw
Don't take that toner with me!
