    MP C4500 - Streaks through image (A3) copies/prints

    Hi All

Am having a problem with an MP C4500. When copying/printing onto A3 (100gsm) about 80% of the time, it streaks the image about halfway through the sheet (B&W & Colour) I've tried using 80 gsm with no problems. All trays are set to middle thick, and have tried trays 2-4 with the same result. I have tried setting to plain paper and seems to be ok, but am worried about fusing issues down the line. What seems to be happening is the paper enters the fuser, but then the side with the image on drags along the fuser entrance guide, causing the the image to wipe off/streak. I'm not sure what's causing it to drag so close to the fuser, and have tried a new fuser and paper transfer/sep roller to test. have tried a fresh ream and a different Supplier of 100 GSM paper.
    Am now scratching my head.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Best thing you can do is to open the door and stop a copy half way through the fuser, so you can see where the ruboff is.

Check for chipped teeth or anything binding in the fuser drive that would cause the fuser to slow down and put any extra bow the paper. I don't remember on this one, but some machines allow you to vary the fuser motor speed slightly - if it was slowed for some reason it might cause this. Check the SM, it would have an obvious name in the SP modes if this machine allows it.

You might also check the fuser entrance guide for any kind of burrs, and try adjusting the guide position.

Since you tried a different (new or completely rebuilt???) fuser my next idea is kinda shot down, but these machines are notorious for the fusing rollers deteriorating over time and causing all sorts of odd problems.
