    Ricoh FT6645 can't get started

    Hello,
I just recently purchased a used ricoh FT6645, and received no documentation with it. Currently I am unable to get past the input user code. Is there a way to get past the code and reset it?

Thanks. Apologies in advance for the novice post.

Do you work for museum ?
Try to get to User Menu. If my memory serves me well, push yellow button then press and hold red "C".

try this - i dont know if it will work as its from a different FT m/c

press yellow ,1 0 7 clear (orange hold down for 3 seconds)

        when in service mode

press 4 for special features number 9 then look for 1 and No 2

No 2 give you the chance to change the code and i think 1 has the option to enable/disable it.

Please note ***you are in service mode and YOU can ruin the m/c if you do any thing wrong so be carefull*****

        good luck

Do you have a meter? if so, remove the small cover over the jumper pins. set your meter to read at least 24v. earth one meter lead to the frame. with the machine switched on check the pins at either end. One will read 5v (the other end should read 24v). BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE OTHER PINS WHEN YOU DO THIS!!

If you then switch off the machine and connect the 5vpin to the one next to it. This will complete the "switch" which disables the user code mode.

WARNING! (again) if you connect either of the 5v pins to either of the 24v pins the machine is KAPUT!!!

                  Whoops!
I think its time you called in some profesional help. With luck you have just popped a fuse on the main PSU.

Did you see this copier run before you handed over the cash? 'Cos with the age of this box you could be on a downwards spiral thats going to turn into a black hole that gobbles $100 notes. I doubt very much that when you get it going it will give a satisfactory performance. These were good copiers in there day but their day has well and truly gone! What killed off these machines was all the foam seals inside turned into chewing gum and toner leaked out of every orifice. I dont know about your neck of the woods but down here parts are now unobtainable. It might be time to cut your losses.

                      ITS ALIVE!!

okay, i got the machine started (had to replace a fuse, jumpered the necessary wires) now here's my problem.... after running pretty well and making maybe 100 or so good copies, the copies got lighter and lighter and now are just barely readable at max darkness. I even bought a new toner cartridge guessing that was the problem, to no avail. also, every time i start the machine it says that the used toner bottle is full. the used toner bottle is empty, and when i pull the bottle out and replace it, the message goes away and i can operate the machine. perhaps this is related to the light copies?

                      thanks in advance!

I told you it would get worse!

It looks like you have two problems here, first is something has died in the toner delivery system, best guess is that the developer unit hasn't been plugged in properly. Swing the toner bottle out and remove the brown cover behind it on the right hand sideof the copier, the connectors are hidden there.
The problem with the waste toner full signal is usually caused by old waste toner clagging up and blocking the waste pipe to the bottle which trips a pressure switch.

I still think you have bitten off more than you can chew! There are probable even more problems laying in wait for you.
