af 1045 grey streaks through DF only!

you would think its the strip glass but its clean. not getting this 3 inches of streak when i place the original on the glass only when the documnet feeder is being use. cleaned al the mirrors and glass and no luck. i had this issue before where the scanned unit was not set properly ive tried adjusted the scanner unit with no luck.

something like his seems realy daft. i need to gt to the bottom of this.

also cleaned th white strip that you find next to the slip glass.

Had this once long ago. Try pushing the DF to the side, on the front, when in closed position. Just see if the white plate and the small scan glass is lined up.

Lift up on the left hand side of the scanner unit. There is no support there and if someone leans on it, you will get the streaks. You can add a support arm on the side of the machine if this is a repeat offender.

Had the same thing on a MPC2800 a few weeks ago, but the customer gave me a clue when they told me about the shelve they used to store paper on... the shelve that used to hang on a plaster wall right above the machine...

I tried manually lifting the scanner, that worked for a couple of weeks.
When I was called back I removed the bridge unit from the machine, got the jack from my car, rammed it in underneath the left front corner of the scanner between a couple of pieces of cardboard and jacked it up as far as I dared. Worked like a charm, and I was complimented by the customer for my "supreme mechanical skills" .

No, I kinda figured I'll need it when it's time to change back to the snowtires within the next few weeks. I even put the bridge unit back in there.

It was just a matter of jacking it a little too far, so that the metal (rubber) in the scanner would descend back to the correct position when I removed the pressure.

FYI, the updated scanner arm assy. for this model is B0821380.
The External Scanner Support Bracket Kit is B0049902. This is a flat metal bracket that mounts flush on the outside of the cabinetry covering the scanner arm. I've used it and it keeps the scanner rock solid.
