Ricoh Aficio 2051 Feed Problem

Cheat the interlocks, and get in there with your flashlight and watch the paper feed from the transfer rollers to the transfer belt - there's just enough gap to see it. You may be surprised at what is actually happening...

I think its going below the reg. roller becouse a mylar is out of place. had this happen 1 time to me the paper would be sitting on the duplex unit not even getting to the transfer belt. if thats whats happening you just have to push the mylar back in place with your finger..

I have lots of mylar experience as it seems all manufacturers use a lot of it
throughout their products and it wouldn't surprise me if that was the issue here.
I do appreciate the discussion on this subject.

How many machines of this model are you techs still working on as I am
curious?

still work on all of them 1060-75.... 2051-60-70...mp5500-60-70 mp7500...now its the 6000, 7000, 8000,6001,7001,8001,9001

I appreciate that but the Ricohs that I have been doing third party work on are MP3000 & MP4000 series and some color products. This is the odd one I have worked on.
Not really the same class I guess but they are somewhat more user friendly.
I suspect to advise Ricoh to go with a MP4000 or MP5000 B & W.

At least at the end of the day everyone will be happy.

I have had my share of old technology over the years and today the products are pretty nice..

MP3000?

Do not get the MP4000/MP5000 - they are nothing but trouble as they are basically the same as the 35/45 cpm machines.

You need a MP6001 to replace a 2051.

Er, hate to bust your balloon but not with the mp4/5000. Anything above or below yes, but this is the dreaded 35/45 cpm model that has plagued us for years!

MP2550/3350 has been a good machine. After that you have to jump to the MP6001-9001.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my problem. I still haven't heard back from Ricoh so at this point I am not doing any further followup. I will reply as to the final outcome when I hear more.

Final Followup

Ricoh has advised that they wanted me to put in a loaner while they decide what they want to do and that works for me.
I expect they will replace instead of repairing as it is on their dime so to speak.
