    MPC2500 color prints

A customer has asked if it is possible to print Black/White only from 9 of there pc's and allow 1 pc to print color. They don't want any user to even have the option to print color even from the print driver. They said if the option is there to print in color they will find it and use it and abuse it...The driver is a PCL driver on the server and is shared by all. Any Ideas? Thanks

Just limit color printing in user tools and use a user code for color printing.

so what happens when they try to print color, does the user have to put a code in the mfp or does it pop up on the pc?
Also when using user codes for printing do all the pc's have to be local. if shared on a server are you only allowed 1 user code for all pc's and the same user code has to be put on each pc? or can a different code be used on each pc? sorry if its sounds confusing but its confusing me big time

Everyone can have their own code, and each person can have different permissions (print color, b&w, etc.) assigned.
Don't take that toner with me!

The user code is stored on the HDD of the machine. When the machine is set to restrict the use of color, the machine expects a user code when it receives a color print job. When the user doesn't send the code the machine discards the job and it will not print.

Try installing a driver from a black and white Ricoh. If fonts print funky, try another one. This solution is best for retarded customers.

Just an update to say that I installed a MP4000RPCS driver on all of the pc's and they printed with no problems. Just kept the original MFP colour driver on the pc's that want to print colour. This way even if the page they want to print has colour it still prints everything in B/W and the job doesn't get knocked back as it would do if using user codes. Thanks again for all your replies and help.

What I would have suggested had I seen this. Good thinking Stig.
