HOW TO Install PFB fonts on MPC2800 or SPC420dn

    Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can help me to resolve one problem I'm currently having.

One of our customers using special bar code font ( PFB type - PS type ) and they want to be able print documents using PCL or PS language (no driver on the server nor on the local pc) direct print from some kind of unix system.

I have seen this working on ricoh machine but I don't know how to make it working on mine printer.

Can someone give me an idea how to install ps fonts onto ricoh machines???

PS: I tried to contact ricoh support but no answer...

Postscript is an option for the machine which comes on an SD card and just plugged in.
Don't take that toner with me!

SPC 420DN doesn't need postscript3 chip ( mpc2800 does need ) I know this. I'm more concern about how to upload PS fonts into the ROM memory on the machine (SP C420DN).

But thanks for fast reply anyway

According to the product support guide, there is a PS driver available for the spc420, and the machine controller has 136 PS fonts resident already.

Don't know how to make it work under UNIX.

While there are 136 Postscript fonts pre-installed, sadly none of them are for barcodes.

Once you find a suitable font (you'll most likely need to buy it - they're almost never free), you can use the Ricoh Downloader Tool to install it.

You can find the tool on the TSRC or TESSA sites under the Utilities section.
