2232c sc 670 and 685

it first started off with an sc 670, sometimes when you switch the machine on and off its fine for a few hours. i checked the connnection of the controller unit and reinstalled the BCU . it was fine until the next day when the customer said he was using the document feeder it started flashing an sc 685. and its now showing 670.

ive disconnected the hdd with no effect.not replaced any parts yet.

can anyone point me in the right direction

Try unplugging all of the accessories (ADF, duplex, bypass, finisher, etc) and rebooting with one accessory at a time until you get to one where the machine craps out.
With the doc feeder giving a 685 (hardware reset from the SBU to IPU) I would bet it's your problem child. Sounds like you may have a wonky ADF or ADF cable. Re-seat everything in it and see what happens if you add that accessory first.
